ONE BRYANT PARK
Owner/Developer: The Dust Org. and Bank of America
Changing the Face of High-Rise Architecture
With an architectural spire extending 1200 feet into the sky, the 54-story, 2.1 million square foot office building at One Bryant Park is soon to be the second-tallest structure in the New York City skyline. As the world’s most environmentally responsible high-rise office building, the Platinum LEED-certified building will include features such as:
- A 1.1 million square foot headquarters for the New York operations of Bank of America, with six major trading floors ranging from 43,000 to 99,000 square feet
- The newly reconstructed and restored 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art Henry Miller Theater
- An extensive public circulation space including widened sidewalks, public street furniture and an urban garden room that will serve as an inviting extension of Bryant Park
Achieving Ecological Efficiency in Construction
As part of the revitalization of 42nd Street, One Bryant Park will emphasize sustainability, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and energy and atmosphere as it becomes an environmental pioneer. The tower is constructed largely of recycled and recyclable building materials and has an onsite 4.6-megawatt cogeneration plant, providing a clean, efficient power source for the building's energy requirements.
Upon completion, millions of gallons of water will be saved annually through innovative devices such as a gray-water system to capture and reuse all rain and wastewater and planted roofs to reduce the urban heat island effect. The numerous eco-friendly features include daylight dimming and LED lights to reduce electric usage and carbon dioxide monitors to bring in more fresh air as needed.
