New York Historical Society
Owner: New York Historical Society
The New-York Historical Society's three-year, $60 million renovation of its landmark building on Central Park West has recently completed the first phase of construction, with the opening of a re-designed West 77th Street Entrance and Museum Store. The reconfigured entrance, providing improved access for school groups and visitors with disabilities and the renovated 1,400 square foot Museum Store are the first elements to be completed in the Society's most ambitious construction project since the expansion of the existing building in 1938. Additional changes to the exterior will make for an even better view of the Historical Society’s west façade, as seen from Central Park. New exterior lights situated on the facade guarantee it to become one of Manhattan’s nighttime landmarks.
