Barnard College Student Center
Winner of a national design competition and a Progressive Architecture Award, the Diana Center is Barnard College’s bright new 98,000 s/f student center. The seven story glass structure stretches across campus linking the north and south ends of campus. Descending planted terraces and ascending double-height glass atria carve a diagonal void through the building and bring in natural light.
The center includes a gallery, reading room, dining room and café in the upper levels while the lower levels house a 500-seat multi-purpose events space and a 100-seat black box theatre for lectures, special events and theatrical productions. On the campus side of the building, there is an unfolded glazed staircase that provides views of the surrounding campus.
