After 123 Washington Street was irreparably damaged on 9/11, its developers had high goals for its reconstruction. The job required extensive precautions to be taken while deconstructing the building that had been victim to the attack. Ambient air monitors that measured a variety of contaminants associated with World Trade Center dust were placed on the roof of 123 Washington Street as well as its surrounding sidewalks.

In March of 2010, the old location comes back as the W Hotel—a stylish and urban structure standing at 57 stories tall and offering a spacious 400,000 square feet. Construction will conclude in March, 2010, and the property will open that spring as a mixed-use hotel and condominium.
